More Downton news. Of all people, PBS gave HBO a run for their money at the recent Emmy Awards. Winning 14 Emmy medals against HBO’s 19, PBS won some of the night’s highest honors with the ‘Masterpiece’ drama ‘Downton Abbey.

Besides winning best TV miniseries or movie, Julian Fellowes, creator of Downton Abbey, also won the writing award in the category. Director Brian Percival won an Emmy, as did supporting actress Maggie Smith. Separately, ‘Downtown Abbey’ also won Emmy Awards for cinematography and costumes at the Creative Arts Emmys.

The Downton Abbey girls appeared in the August 2011 issue of British Vogue’s editorial ‘Heirs and Graces’ Jessica Brown Findlay says of the blue Valentino dress she wore (above), that it was perhaps “the most beautiful thing” she had ever worn.

Yesterday, Lord Grantham’s girls modeled High Street fashions for the Daily Mail. Lots more images on the Daily Mail link.

What manner of madness is this? Downton Abbey fashions, reinvented by (whisper it,ladies) the High Street?

Oh shiver me lawks and put an extra pennyworth o’ bobbin on the liberty corset, or whatever it is the mistress of the wardrobe doth do with her ladyship’s flannelette unspeakables and afternoon tea gowns.
